What Do You Hope For?

We live in a diminished world; cultures, languages, species, and peoples have been extinguished. More will be extirpated in our lifetimes.

Yet, life goes on. People still struggle to create community amidst the destruction. The young still hope, the old still remember, the valiant still fight for equality—among other things.

Is there hope we can restore salmon runs in the Bronx? Probably not. Is there hope we can redirect our treasuries from wanton killing into more healthy initiatives? Sure.
